A few weeks ago the Singletrack guys got in touch with us about a project they were supporting. From the makers of BICYCLE, a new film was in production charting the course of the British Mountain Bike scene. Have a watch of the trailer.
Although we're not part of the 'it were better in the old days' crowd, most of us here grew up through the early 90's when mountain biking really exploded in the UK. Although we wouldn't trade our Souls and Rockets for those 1992 Dynatech Diablos or Orange C16Rs we rode back then, it was an interesting period in the sport and threading that together with how we got to where we are today we think will make a great little documentary.
The team are crowd funding the film production budget, and we have got involved and pledged some cash to become an official supporter. There's still a few days left of the crowd funder, and whilst they have met their initial target, bigger budget means more filming, more locations, and a better movie. Full supporters Orange and Hope have put up a pretty cool prize if someone signs up to be the Exec Producer, so big up our Northern Brothers and Sisters for getting behind the film so strongly as well. Here's what the producers have to say.....
Just a few days left to support film about history of British mountain biking"
“Mountain Biking: the untold British story”
A co production between Blue Hippo Media and Singletrack in association with Orange Bikes and Hope.
We are so thrilled to have reached our initial crowd funding target but we still have amazing perks available. Digital Downloads, tickets to the Cast and Crew after party, name in credits, Associate Producer slots and 1 Exec Producer slot are all still available and only 4 days left on the campaign!
Now Orange and Hope are on board as a headline sponsors just look at what you get for being part of MTB history as an Exec Producer on the film:
An Orange frame with Hope kit , worth over £2,300!!! The Perk is £2,500!! and you get masses of other benefits for being an Exec Producer anyway.
WE REALLY WANT THESE TO GO ASAP !
"It's awesome that there's going to be a film about British mountain biking, the best in the world! We're proud that we will be part of it! Please support the film."
Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton
Tracy Moseley 4 X World MTB Champion commented, “I’m so excited that there is going to be a film looking back at the history of mountain biking in the UK. It’s an exciting history that I think has yet to be pieced together so I can’t wait to learn a little myself too.”
